Thérapie teaches The Spurgeon Method®, a massage and bodywork technique for the upper torso, including the breast, to relieve pain, reduce swelling and increase range-of-motion.
Anyone wishing to learn more about breasts and breast health will benefit from this class.
Massage Therapists who take our classes and complete the hands-on trainings, are in the unique position of being able to help their clients with breast discomfort, post-surgical issues and other concerns their clients may have.
We teach participants to become comfortable with breast massage, to understand its many benefits, and explain how vitally important it is for everyone.
"Before taking this class I had no idea of all the issues women face and what they go through during the change of life. It has totally changed my perspective and, as a massage therapist, I now feel empowered to help them on this journey".

Hi, I’m Sally Spurgeon
I am originally from Cheltenham in England but moved to the US in 1982 - therefore this class is written in American, not English, as noted by students in my in-person classes ;-)
I've been a Massage Therapist for almost 40 years. During my massage career I studied at two different schools and took many continuing education classes, but a part of our anatomy that desperately needs to be massaged was never included in any of the classes I attended - in fact we were always taught to avoid touching breasts!
Back then I never thought much about it, I really didn't touch my own breasts let alone anyone else's, but that all changed when I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
The classes we teach are a result of me wishing to help women really understand their breasts in order to avoid the experience I had, and for Massage Therapists to learn the vitally important role they can play in promoting and maintaining healthy breast tissue for their clients and for themselves.
